G01 doesn't work

  • Hello,

We tried build 1.15.0.b1 on GPy (activating debug) ... is working and modem is initialized . Resetting the board, the terminal output is the following:

                AT COMMAND: [AT..]
                AT RESPONSE: [..OK..]
                AT COMMAND: [AT+CFUN=4..]
                AT RESPONSE: [..OK..]
                GSM initialization start
                AT COMMAND: [AT..]
                AT RESPONSE: [..OK..]
                AT COMMAND: [ATZ..]
                AT RESPONSE: [..OK..]
                AT COMMAND: [AT+CMEE=2..]
                AT RESPONSE: [..OK..]
                AT COMMAND: [AT+CPSMS=1..]
                AT RESPONSE: [..OK..]
                GSM initialized.
                AT COMMAND: [AT!="setlpm airplane=1 enable=1"..]
                AT RESPONSE: [....OK..]

Trying the same build on G01 (3 modules) Resetting the board, output is the following:

    AT COMMAND: [AT..]
    AT: TIMEOUT
    ONLINE, DISCONNECTING...
    AT COMMAND: [ATH..]
    AT: TIMEOUT
    AT COMMAND: [ATH..]
    AT: TIMEOUT
    AT COMMAND: [ATH..]
    AT: TIMEOUT
    AT COMMAND: [ATH..]
    AT: TIMEOUT
    STILL CONNECTED.
    AT COMMAND: [ATH..]

Any idea what the pb is with G01?

  • @jmarcelino What is the right voltage a for that pin? What is the amperage required for the modem?

  • @jmarcelino That pin is powered also 3.3v (measured 3.28v). We suspected that this might be not enough if the modem is power from that pin.
Our assumption was to supply the stable 3.3v pin, aupply with 1.8A, knowing that a 4g modem usually consumes sparkly 1.5A on first connection.

  • Thanks @colateral

How are you powering the pin listed as 3.2-5.5V that is unique to the G01 (it feeds the different modem power supplies)?

I’ll check internally what needs to be done on the G01.

  • @jmarcelino Yes We have soldered the OEM to our own PCB. On the same PCB is running fine also L01, the difference between 2 is that L01 is not using the SIM card.

We tried 5 G01 prototipes... none is working. Looking to the code, seems that UART is opened but the Sequance modem is not responding. We measured everything and the problem seems that is coming from OEM.

I forgot the to say, on both situations the output is the same with or without SIM card plugged.... and of course the LTE antennas were connected before board power.

  • @colateral
How have you connected the G01?

Is this soldered on Pycom’s universal expansion board?
