LoRa antenna kit

Can I use another antenna than the 900 Mhz LoRa antenna kit and which you advise me?
-
@jmarcelino
Is there any specification for official LoRa antenna kit? I would appreciate manufacturer name and type as well. Thanks!

@danielm
In that antenna style I've had acceptable results with the ProAnt PRO-IS-212 https://www.digikey.co.uk/products/en?keywords= 1532-1023-ND

@jmarcelino
Could you please recommend any other alternative to Taoglas PC.81 worth trying?
-
@danielm said in LoRa antenna kit:
Molex 105262
The Molex is the worst antenna I've tested. Very poor performance.

@jmarcelino
What is your experience with Molex 105262? Is it comparable with Taoglas PC.81? It is much cheaper, however it seems to be unavailable in most of the e-shops right now.

@johncaipa
Where did you see 8dBi? The LoPy kit antenna is FCC listed as 2.2dBi
-
In this topic I always had the doubt of the maximum gain of the antenna for the gateway, in Multitech support say to me maximum 3dbi, but I see that you use of 8dbi, what is the criterion?

@assia @assia
Yes you can as long as they are specified to work in your 900Mhz range and have 50 ohm impedance(most have) Read the specs of the antenna.Some may have a different connector, the LoPy has what's called an u.FL so you might need an adapter cable. From the listed the Laird and sticker type already have it, while you would need an N-Male to u.FL adapter (TaoGlas) or N-Female to u.FL (Sunhans)

Hi @jmarcelino thanks for your response,
I can use them on the lopy ?

Yes and there are thousands of suitable antennas, very much depends on what you wish to do it - do you want an external type antenna (big and robust), higher gain (more focused beam), small size (even like a sticker) ...
For example my deployments include the 1.5 meter TaoGlas Barracuda http://www.taoglas.com/product/barracuda-omb-868-08f21-868mhz-8dbi-omni-directional-outdoor-antenna/
The traditional 1/2 Wave antenna (for example from Laird)

To an antenna which is just a sticker
http://www.mouser.co.uk/ProductDetail/Molex/105262-0002/?qs=sGAEpiMZZMvUoj5XzR%2FL5QgBsUWOp7PCYou need to understand your criteria and go from there.
