Do you plan to implement support for "old" LTE networks?

I'm not aware of any plans. Supporting "full fat" LTE would almost certainly increase the size and power requirements which is something we try to avoid.

Since it's now looking like many countries will have rolled out LTE-M/NB by end 2018 maybe it's not such a bad idea to adopt a forward thinking strategy.

It's however certainly possible to connect to an external module.
