Environmental Audio Collection with WiPy 3.0

I am looking into the feasibility of using the WiPy for environmental acoustics. Ideally I would have an 16 bit ADC with a sample rate around 48K to pair with a low profile mic (electret most likely). I understand the onboard ADC is a 12 bit ADC. Has anyone been down this path with the WiPy before and have any hardware recommendations/pointers? Thanks. Brian
