Hand soldering OEM modules
-
Has anyone managed to successfully hand solder the OEM modules onto the reference boards?
Lots of solder. Higher great settings. Patience.
Nothing seems to work! -
All you need is flux, a good soldering iron with good tip, experience and skills.
for an experienced solderer this is done in a minute

@eric-waai I agree, the only annoying pin is GND everey other pin must be solder with 330-350°C iron setting and SMD soldering wire, for GND pins set your soldering iron to 420°C and don't stay in contact more than 4 secondes to weld this pins then wait 1 minutes before retry if it not work.

@philwilkinson Having a supply of desoldering wick will help too, just use it after soldering and a large soldering iron tip. It will remove the surplus solder leaving neat joints.

As other's mentioned it's doable in a home lab fairly easily. Patience. (and flux) is the key.

Ok, thanks all for the advice.
I have been soldering for years and have never come across a board so hard to solder, it just will not take.
It looks like I need to have a really hot iron setting. -
I made about 10 boards with OEM modules that were reflowed in a simple oven very successfully, however there were a couple that were hand soldered successfully. They are doable.

Nothing seems to work!Yes I've done this many times. My secret is lots of flux, drag soldering and cleaning up with solder wick and more flux. Most problems come from using too much solder creating shorts underneath the pads or too little solder and not making a solid connection.
