Setup trouble - can't connect to device

  • I have a LoPy 4 that is a couple of years old (and a version 2.1A expansion board, and I'm on a Mac.) It worked the last time I used it over a year ago and now I'm trying to connect to it again. I have Atom running and the latest version of Pymakr (1.4.11). I think it might be a serial port issue, I recall that OSX can be flaky about usb serial ports.

When I click "get serial ports" I get this:
    Found 2 serialports
/dev/tty.TaoTronicsTT-BH07-CSRGA (Unknown manufacturer) (copied to clipboard)
    /dev/tty.JAMBOXbyJawbone-SPPDev (Unknown manufacturer)

    which are for bluetooth headphones.

When I do this from command line:
    ls -l /dev/cu.*

    I get this:
    crw-rw-rw- 1 root wheel 21, 3 Mar 9 13:58 /dev/cu.Bluetooth-Incoming-Port
    crw-rw-rw- 1 root wheel 21, 5 Mar 9 13:50 /dev/cu.JAMBOXbyJawbone-SPPDev
    crw-rw-rw- 1 root wheel 21, 1 Mar 9 13:50 /dev/cu.TaoTronicsTT-BH07-CSRGA

When I plug in the pycom to usb, then start Atom, I see this:
AutoConnect enabled, ignoring 'address' setting (see Global Settings)
Searching for PyCom boards on serial...
No PyCom boards found on USB

When I press "Connect" I get this:
    AutoConnect: No device available

I have press the Reset button several times. I've read the troubleshooting docs.

    Can anyone assist? Thanks!

  • @dws Drat I was using a charge-only usb cable.

Does anyone know if there is a universal way that charge-only or true data + charge cables are indicated, ie does the presence of the USB logo indicate true data capability? I would just ring out the cable with a ohmmeter but it's not easy to tap into the pins and frankly it's an annoying thing to have to do. thanks
