It’s lead by the very capable John Cassidy (of Aeternum Innovations Ltd).

@Bettina I can join the party, taking my devices to the highest spot around, at a high of 460m, with a good view to north-west. Is it planned to spread a specific firmware image/application for that challenge?

@tuftec There are a number of ways to do it. We are aiming to go p2p (16x) and also break out to the web every 16 hops (possibly 32) ;-)

Hi guys, apologies for the radio silence.

So there are a bunch of us from a variety of backgrounds looking to attempt the planets biggest open access mesh on 22nd September using IoT equipment. We are using LoPy4s and FiPys to create the mesh, all of the roles within in too. I have personally gone over 530km using the LoPy on SF12 (TX 14 dB) so am pretty confident we can connect very long distances using the Pycom kit.

Our objective is to have a co-opetition where each countries or groups within countries try to replicate the Marconi Dx from Wales to New South Wales in 1918 (17200km).

Everyone is welcome to join in and everything is open to discussion.

It'd be great to have you join us, one of our most important objectives is to to connect and collaborate with link minded individuals and the community so please don't hesitate to reach out.

What is this really all about? Is it actually practical? I am assuming a radio only network is desired with no other back-haul connections. Is this correct?

Nullo Problemo. HH means Hamburg, Germany. Robert lives next to a well used port. So he needs only to weld a small package on top of each bridge. Same will be done in China.

I can't help. There are only b&w pictures left from the oversea port of my city :-)

@robert-hh was thinking about the same when I saw the announcement. What are the actual rules? With an internet link in between, this is trivial. Without one (i.e. using only LoRa, WiFi...) this is probably close to impossible.

@Bettina That's interesting and quite a challenge. There are pretty many "white" spots between (and even in) Wales and Australia. Do you really plan to cover that range without Internet links in between?
