Disabling and Enabling GPS Receiver

This is a reposing to a thread on the expansion board. I tried turning off the gps receiver without turning of the board but after it turn off it wakes up again automatically. To get more info please refer to https://forum.pycom.io/topic/6759/pytrack-turning-off-the-gps-receiver. I also want to know if it is possible or I am just wasting my time and it is not supoorted.
