Max power voltage?

I'd read somewhere that max supply voltage is 5.5V, but I'm using solar power system ( adafruit 6 volt panel + LiPo charger) and today in a shining sun the voltage reached 6.8 Volt without any damage for the moment.
Which is the real max voltage that a LoPy can accept?

@Officina Instead of stepping to 5V and then regulating down, you can also connect a 3.3 regulator like this one: https://www.pololu.com/product/2122
and connect it to V3.3 of the LoPy.

@jmarcelino You seem to be right. On my LoPy, there is a matching device, which also has the proper device marking printed on it's top.

I believe the regulator is the same shown in the reference design Texas Instruments LM3281:

Absolute maximum rating is 6V so you may be (slowly?) damaging the unit.
Is the 6.8V you saw the actual running voltage or open circuit, i.e. measuring the solar panel alone?

@Officina That's hard to tell w/o the part name that is used as voltage regulator. Typical devices like that have a recommended input voltage range up to 6V, and an absolute maximum of 7V. But again, that's just a guess. We are are still waiting for the schematics to be published.
