Is there an ETA to update LoPy (and its companion) to the new v1.9 firmware?

@patrick The stable release 1.18.0 uses Micropython 1.8.6, the developement release 1.19.2 is based on Micropython 1.9.4

Is there any news on moving to MicroPython v1.9? If not, is it possible to update to MicroPython v1.9 myself without losing functionality?

Especially on the old LoPy version the improvements to reduce allocation on the heap are quite welcome.
