Micropython leak detector with home-assistant integration
-
Hi all, just posted this 'work in progress' project on Hackster, grateful for any feedback :-) https://www.hackster.io/42861/micropython-leak-detector-with-home-automation-integration-a2fa9e?ref=search&ref_id=pycom&offset=7

I've now updated the sensor in this rig and am using the BME680. Repo below:

@olddognewtricks I think setting up a gateway requires dedicated hardware costing at least 300 euro.. Wifi is limited on range, however a mesh router network may help out.
-
@robmarkcole I have the Home Assistant site bookmarked to look at. I will take a look. The reason for the LoPy was to have my own gateway just of the people entering the gate. Guess I could do that with WiFi. Will have to YouTube RasPi as a hub. Tks

@olddognewtricks I started out with MyDevices, but once I got used to Home-assistant I loved the ability to add multiple components and produce slick automations, now I have no need for MyDevices :-) If range is an issue, then having a dedicated raspberry pi hub is one solution. I wonder if is is possible to add LowRa connectivity to a raspberry pi? At least this should be possible using a second LoPy (@bucknall ?).

@robmarkcole Spent most of yesterday trying to get the firmware updated, and with help for a couple great guys on the Forum was able to get it done. However, I can't see the LoPy with my phone, wifi or bluetooth! I first got a Particle Photon and it worked out of the box but the phone app wasn't what I needed and not sure I would have the range I needed with WiFi. So I got the LoPy.
I am in hopes of using MyDevices as the front end to speed up the finished product. I have a facility with a gate controller board installed in 1994 and am trying to get a app driven RasbPi answer to open the gate.

@olddognewtricks Aha! OK please do let me know if this project is useful or you need any further info etc :-)

@robmarkcole Drinking water. We have very hard water!

@olddognewtricks Is that for a fish tank?

Thanks for posting. I need this for my reverse osmosis unit. One of the filter canisters sprung a leak and I spend hours replacing baseboards.
