New user LoPy4: serial connection works but not ftp
dws last edited by
I am a new user and using Filezila 192.168.4.1, passive mode, plain ftp, normal logon type, passive, one connection, and I can't connect via ftp ("timeout, could not connect to server"). Assuming this is supposed to be connecting over Wifi? If so, where are the wifi setup steps? I don't see that IP address active from my router status page. What am I doing wrong? Device is powered through my usb cable, and I've tried while serial connection is active and inactive. Thanks.

Looks like that page has been moved to a different section, here's the new link: https://docs.pycom.io/gettingstarted/programming/repl/telnet

I will be publishing a reworked getting started section for the docs with the next day or two, this should detail getting connected via wifi much better than the current docs do

@dws The whole process about connecting to the LoPy over WiFi is explained here:
To keep your regular connection and be able to connect to the LoPy at the same time, you need to configure the LoPy to connect to your existing WiFi network. Instructions are available here:

this depend of your configuration
Do you have direct internet cable to your lapto or throught router with wifi enabled?
If you have not wifi reouter than on windows you can configure routes
there you can configure route to transmit some packets (based on the route and mask) to you Lopy4
and other traffic outside to the network.
But simplest is having router with wifi.

@dws Ok now I see I'm supposed to connect to the lopy WAP, and now I have ftp. (Where is that in the docs? I scoured for info but didn't see it, found that info and the password in the forums.)
Also is there any way to stay connected to internet on my laptop while also doing ftp to the pycom, besides using a internet cable?
