turn off WLAN interface for power save

Is there a way to shut the WLAN interface.

In micropython there is wlan.active() methode but that doesn't work.

Hi there,
I'm interested in disabling the Wifi too !
This would be VERY useful to save a lot the battery for Solar powered environmental autonomous sensors ;-) !!
