ESP32 light sleep availability

I would like to continue discussion from older post:
Power saving during active cycle
We are currently integrating Sensirion SGP30 air quality sensor which must be instructed to trigger initialization (via I2C command - it turns on heating hotplate) and then it is necessary to wait 15s prior to measurement reading.
Having ESP32 light sleep mode available would significantly reduce power consumption during this "wait" time. Is there a plan to introduce this mode into machine API in the coming releases?
I am aware that short deep-sleep period would also partially solve this but it makes the operation scenario significantly complicated.
