Advise on some parts for a project

  • Hello! I am based in Cardiff and some enthusiasts here recently set up a Things Network community locally, I want to try running a small project for fun. I basically want to set up some air quality sensors around the city and eventually use the data to do some data visualisation or sonification. PyCom LoPy4 seems perfect for the job.

I would like to solar power the project, I've had some success getting pretty low power through deep sleep on the ESP32, so I would really like to try it for this project. I was really hoping for some advise on what kind of panels and hardware would be sufficient to charge a LiPo battery. The PyCom boards will likely be active for a couple of seconds every 15 or 30 minutes, and the rest of the time should be in deep sleep.

I would like to hear about your experiences with solar powering projects, particularly on what hardware you used to do so.

    First post! Many thanks!

    Aidan
