Firmware Upgrade tool, Alvira indicates the program is infected and quarantines it.

Windows firmware updater, pycom_Firmware_update_1.15.1 Alvira, quarantines the file upon execution, and stops it from running. Can we get a bug free version please?

This is not a bug, the firmware updater works as expected, your antivirus software has an issue. Someone else had an issue similar to this, in that case the reason was that the firmware updater connects to the internet and that's considered "suspicious" for some anti-virus applications. If you add it to the exception list, you can continue using it.

@terryz I think it is better to contact Alvira if you want a bug free version of their software. They are not likely to read this forum.
You can also upload the firmware tool to virustotal.com if you want a second opinion from 68 antivirus tools. I did that and all 68 tools give OK: https://www.virustotal.com/#/file/7318921baca7e2bad51695e606603c14f8ac7f09439bc95cf5169907052684e5/detection
There might be an option in the Avira settings to whitelist the upgrade tool until Avira'd detection has been fixed.
