Lopy4 how to update .bin files to device?

  • Hello,
    i did the following on my lopy4 -

    import os
    (sysname='LoPy4', nodename='LoPy4', release='1.9.2.b2', version='v1.8.6-798-gebbcca48-dirty on 2017-10-31', machine='LoPy4 with ESP32', lorawan='1.0.0')

    the latest release is 1.19....according to this link - https://software.pycom.io/downloads/LoPy4.html

    I downloaded the latest version and it's a zip file - i unzip and it has a bunch of .bin files and a script file. How do i put these files onto the Lopy4?

    please be gentle!!!!

  • @rossdem699 You can use the pycom updater. Start the Pycom updater and tell it to update from a file. When it asks for a file, give it the name of the zip file. The updater will unpack the file itself.
    Generally you may also use ftp OTA update. Take the appimg.bin file from the package and transfer it to flash/sys. Once that is finished, reboot the device. But for a large change like 1.18.1r1 to 1.19.0.b4 and its possible change in the flash layout this may not work.
