Disgusting. RP SMA connectors? Why in hell?

So I was just about to hook an attenuator and do some tests, and, to my dismal, the antenna connectors are the hideous RP-SMA.

Why? I "understand" the stupid choice for WiFi equipment. But, for any other purposes? Plain insane.

you can buy OEM without it - but limitation is big for startup 500+

I understand that it's required for end user equipment such as WiFi equipment. But for development cards? The problem is, it's a timewaster.

It's a requirement for FCC certification
