Firmware and User Application Program Update for GPy Using Image File & Serial Connection

Is it possible to update both the firmware and user application program on the GPy at the same time from a single combined image file over default TXD/RXD serial connection? Goal --- speeding up program setup on multiple new GPys that use the same environment and application programming.
