Best I2C accelerometer for GPy

I have been fiddling around with a few accelerometers like the ADXL345 from Adafruit, but we end up with I2C bus errors. Anyone has a protip to share and possibly a driver? We are looking for an accelerometer to use during deliveries where there should be a threshold, and above that threshold we send time stamp to our server.
