I am a new programmer and have some limited skills, but I have now wasted 2 days trying to solve a problem. I am looking for a IDE to program a ESP8266 12E and have been able to flash it and then hook it up to pycharm, but I cannot figure out how the interaction of pycharm and the board works. There seems to be little info online. Can someone help me out? I can write python code to some degree but it’s all the backend connections that I think I’m struggling with. Thanks in advance.

@andrew-alberty Most people use Thonny as the IDE. https://thonny.org/
P.S.: Using the ESP8266, you may better discuss your topics at the genuine MicroPython forum forum.micropython.org
