Lorawan nano gateway issue (gateway starts working after reset)

I have a setup with a nano gateway and an OTAA node.
When I plug in the gateway first, and then the node, the node refuses to join. I tried for hours and it keeps sending join requests.
When I leave the node on, and do a reset on the nona gateway, everything starts working like it should. The node joins after appr. 3 join requests. After that I can reset the node and everything keeps working as it should.
Any ideas on this matter?

A little update, when I power up node and nano gateway the same time everything works fine too. So the issue is when I first power up the gateway and a few seconds later the node.
