Prepare firmware for flashing with firmware upgrade tool

I have compiled the firmware and got the resulting bin-files. I want to flash with another computer and see an option to flash a local file with the firmware upgrade tool. The upgrade tool want a tar.gz file. Where can I find documentation on how this file should be created?

@johand Just download one of the existing tar files, expand it, replace th bin file and pack it back. The pycom-fwtool-cli and also flash the binary directly. Starting link for tar files:
