Notifications not working for Mentions/comments on a thread I replied in

This is my notifications view:
Which shows only the upvote of a question I asked, yet the setting for mentions is on:
(I never actually touched the settings)
And 4/3 days ago I was mentioned twice in this topic:

(Last 2 replies)Because of this I have to check my posts every day, manually to see if there are any notifications on them.. Which makes notifications quite useless..Am I the only one with this problem?

@paul-thornton I seem to get the notification now, but I'm guessing it's the mentions specifically, since I turned on the "replies in topics you watch".
I'm pretty sure it's not browser related since it's not in the notifications view, but I'm using google chrome Version 71.0.3578.98
I'm guessing you get the notifications because of the reply and you're watching the topic, not because of the mention. I'm going to put mentions on emails only and replies on notifications. That should send me an email when I get mentioned and a notification because there's a reply if you reply to this topic.

@lonefish I've tried this a few times now. and havent been able to replicate not receiving notifications, I even get the emails come through as well.
What browser are you using?

@paul-thornton I haven't had any notifications since I've joined the forum, except 2 upvotes of my first post.
I just changed the settings of notifications for topics you watch, that seemed to be off by default. But mentions was always on.. So I should've gotten notifications afaik.
Notifications in the top are perfect, I don't specifically need email notifications, but it would be handy to get "any" notifications

Hey,
took a quick look into this. by default notification's only show in the little alert icon in the top right. If you'd like them to go to your email as well you have to explicitly enable it in your account settings.
(Click your profile picture in the top right > Settings)
On the right hand side you can customise how you receive alerts for various actions.
