Pybytes LoRa Connection Issue

I can't seem to connect to pybytes over LoRa with my FiPy. I have a LoRa gateway nearby connected to The Things Network, US West region. When I try to connect to LoRa OTAA or ABP it returns 'False' after attempting to set up the socket, as shown:

Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
