Pycom Bankrupt?
-
So what's up with the announcement made several days ago. Is this like a US style "restructuring" of a company, or an outright liquidation of assets? I have Pycom hotspots that cannot be onboarded because their account has no Data Credits. And even the one I have onboarded will receive no further OTA updates?
What a shame, the damn thing is a great performer. It's in the top 3% of earners worldwide. Damn.

@Aisham-Zaha-0 The only activity we have see so far is the statement of being back as a different company under a similar name, and the note about discontinuing almost all existing products. No sign of technical activity.
-
@robert-hh Pycom is back in activity as Pycom B.V.
Please feel free to pop by and send your inquiries to sales@pycom.io 🙂

@Aisham-Zaha-0 When can we expect an announcement on what products/services of the existing portfolio will be supported/developed moving forward?
- Current ESP32 range (LoPy 4, GPy, FiPy, etc. and associated boards: PySense, PyTrack, PyScan...)
- Pygate
- PyGo + PyLife
- Helium miner
- PyBytes
Likewise, plans for announced-but-not-yet-released products such as the new F01 H7 and/or S3 would probably be useful. There seems to be a shift back to the ESP32-S3, but it's still unclear what the plans are.

@Aisham-Zaha-0 The intention sounds good. When can we expect Pycom to be back in regular activity instead of the announcement state?

@bruno-l Good news! Pycom Ltd did indeed go into administration on the 16th of September but it looks like we will have a new owner soon. They are Season Group. SG will provide us with more working capital to continue develop new products, have more inventory in place, and more importantly help all our customers take their concept into production! Once the acquisition of Pycom assets is complete, we will be able to provide you with a more accurate outlook but rest assured Pycom products will be available and better than before. Thank you for your patience and ongoing support.
Cheers, Pycom (forever)

@bruno-l Heltec has a good range of Lora supporting boards with ESP32, and they seem to be a reliable vendor. I adapted the LoPy software for the Heltec Wireless Stick and Wireless stick Lite a while ago. That should have been the V2 series. From a first glance, that firmware should match the Wireless Stick V3 as well. maybe a few adaptions like pin assignments are required. But the Heltec Boards are more like the LoPy1, since they have no PSRAM. But they have an on-board UART/USB bridge. Thus no need for an expansion board.
The Heltec-Pycom firmware is here: https://github.com/robert-hh/Shared-Stuff

It's a pity and a shame because existing products were successful and supplied globally by most of internet sellers. I guess the financial management was really wrong. Yet, does anyone can advise for an alternate solution to Lopy4? I saw several boards on Aliexpress (though it is not a reliable web shop).

Ownership of Pycom has been forcefully transferred to Beacon LLP by a judge. Beacon's job is repay Pycom's creditors by any means, selling off the company as a whole would be the easiest option for them. If they can't find a buyer, all assets will liquidated.
I'd recommend making a claim to the administrators that you're owed back the value of the miner due to a breach of contract.
You're unable to add the hardware onto the blockchain as a result of the liquidation, so their is a valid argument to be made.
The email address is on the front page of the Pycom website, add as much evidence as you can.
Good Luck.
