Mesh Network topology using LoPy

I was wondering if anyone can help with connecting nodes in a mesh topology. Is it possible to do it? The ideal situation should be making one LoPy switch between node and gateway mode. So, if node 1 wants to a send a message to node 3, and a path exists from node 1 through node 2, then node 2 switches to gateway mode and the message reaches to the node 3 through node 2.
