OTAA over nanagateway to brocaar loraserver

Hello,
I am starting this topic for discussion on connecting LoPy over LoPy NanoGateway to an open source server network https://github.com/brocaar/loraserver. I have noticed a lot of posts about connecting to TTN with the same setup. I am facing a common problem that nodes are not accepting the join approvals (stuck at 'Not joined yet') while the the network server is accepting and sending back the approval. Has anyone tried to work with this open-source server?

I'm trying to use nano-gateway with loraserver.io but I can not downstream messages just upstream.
Can you share if you had the same problem?

No. I was merely suggesting that this could have problems specific to the server too. Other than the issues on Lopy, which the developers acknowledge, I now think that both TTN and the open source server are fine themselves.

How could the open source server solve this?
Do you think the join approval problem is a TTN issue and not a LoPy issue?
