SPI Baudrate Limited to 10000

Hi there,
I am trying to write an SPI interface for a vibration sensor, however my SPI interface timing on all pins goes horribly off if I use baudrates higher than 10000. This should not be happening, surely a baud rate higher than that is possible.
Any ideas on why this might be happening?
