Gpy / MQTT /Azure
-
Hi guys, I was planning a proof-of-concept setup. It consist on some devices that send MQTT packets (temperature, time on...) that are finally processed with Azure. My idea was to use the Gpy, as far as I see the tech is not ready yet (Gpy/NB IoT). Should I turn to another provider? Advice is welcome. Thanks!

Hi @marcobenini , thank you for your thorough explanation. It will help me to clarify the protocols I can use.

NB-IoT has no TCP implementation, so there will no use of standard MQTT (that relies on TCP).
Maybe there will be possible in a future the use of MQTT-SN over UDP. but has not all the features as MQTT.Instead there is CoAP, that was designed to be similar in use as HTTP when used to transfer data, but over UDP.
There is a recent (september 2017) u-blox presentation that gives an overview of NB-IoT.
"A new era has started – u-Blox NB-IoT solutions"As for CoAP, there is this short article that gives a rapid overview and some additional informations.
"IP versus CoAP for IoT Communications"There is now a standard proposal, published a week ago, of CoAP over TCP, (to be used outside NB-IoT).
