Cannot Update FW On New FiPy in Pysense
-
Hello,
New Pycom user here. I just received a FiPy and a Pysense board. I was able to update the firmware of the Pysense board, but so far I have been unable to update the FiPy's firmware. When attempting the update, I receive the message "Could not connect to the board." I'm using the firmware updater utility (ver 1.16.1) on Win10.
I'm able to successfully run commands via REPL in Atom, so I know that my PC is able to communicate with the board (yes, I am closing Atom before resetting the FiPy and attempting the upgrade). However, I've noticed some commands entered via REPL produce a guru meditation error (e.g. if I attempt to import the time lib AFTER importing the pycom lib). Hopefully I'm just doing something wrong and these aren't signs of a damaged board.
Thank you for any advice you can provide.

Flashing in offline mode (i.e. using a local file) seems to work for me. For anyone with the same issue, I found the latest FiPy Pybytes firmware via:
https://software.pycom.io/downloads/pybytes/FiPy.htmlLegacy builds are at https://software.pycom.io/downloads/FiPy.html as shown by @Edward-Dimmack.

@Edward-Dimmack That worked for me as well, thank you for the suggestion. However, I don't see the latest firmware posted here. Is there another location that has the latest 1.20.1.x firmware?

I have the same problem. I was able to upgrade the firmware from a file though.
So if you download the version you want from here,
https://software.pycom.io/downloads/FiPy.html
Then select "Flash from local file" that worked for me.

I tried a different Win10 computer with a fresh install of the firmware updater utility, but same result. Do I have to have an Expansion Board 3.0+ to perform a firmware update on the FiPy?
Can anyone assist? Is there a different section I should post this type of issue under?
Thank you,
Kurt
