@robert-hh the second test for USB/UART bridge, i hope i get it in correct way. i've connected the pins as on foto and opening PuTTY can see all characters digied from the keyboard on the terminal. so looks like the bridge is OK, right? WhatsApp Image 2022-07-26 at 13.31.08.jpeg

@Liudmila-Dobriakova The bridge is OK and the Putty setting is correct.
Then there is trouble with the LoPy4 board. Which is strange, because they are quite robust usually. If you have a voltmeter, can to measure the levekl at the bridge TX output when nothing is connected?

@robert-hh tanks for the flags, appreciate it! sorry, takes me a while to find a multimeter. if i'm right the red cable go to the tx pin and the black to gnd, i can see 3.3 - 3.4 V

@Liudmila-Dobriakova OK. So that level is fine, when nothing is connected.
So, it looks like the Lopy4 is bricked, and I cannot tell a reason. Are you sure that you never connected the 5V from the USB adapter to the 3.3V pin of the LoPy4? That would at least explain it.
About getting hot: is is too hot to touch, especially at some places close to the LED?

@robert-hh well, i can't tell for sure, but i think i never connect it to the 5V. i would say it is too hot to even touch in opposite side from the led.

@Liudmila-Dobriakova Most likely then the 3.3V regulator is broken. I guess that there is no 3.3V at the 3.3V pin.

@Liudmila-Dobriakova Measure with the voltmeter between the 3.3V pin and GND.

@robert-hh I tried with a multimeter to touch the pins from the external side and unstable can see from time to time 4,5, could it mean anything?

@Liudmila-Dobriakova 4.5V at the 3.3V pin is a problem. Are you sure you are at the 3.3V? If yes, then you can consider the LoPy4 as broken.

@robert-hh i'm a bit confused. My connection is like on foto. should I measure between GND and 3V3WhatsApp Image 2022-07-26 at 15.42.29.jpeg or GND and VIN?

@Liudmila-Dobriakova Measure between GND and 3.3V, while the board is powered. Then, you should have 3.3V at the 3.3V pin, which is the output of the 3.3V regulator of the LoPy4.

@Liudmila-Dobriakova you have to connect GND to the board. Otherwise it is not powered.

@Liudmila-Dobriakova Sorry. It looked open in the picture. 2.15 V is too low for the ESP32 to work. But if the regulator gets hot, then there is a lot of current drawn. So there must be some kind of short on the board.
                                          Not good.

@robert-hh u right, the picture was not clear, I can imagine.. .so there is nothing to bring it to life again? :( any other suggestions, or tricks?

If there is no way to recover it, I have a question then, since there are no LoPy4 boards available currently on the market I was wondering if I can use the FiPy board, but I have a script for reading the sensors data and the connection layout them and connection for LoRaWAN stack written for the LoPy4 board, would it work for FiPy board as well or I have to start from the scratch?
