SiPy firmware update tool now available with ID and PAC for activation
-
@daniel Im using windows
The file I download is pycom_firmware_update_1.1.0.b1.exe
-
@sk you need to use either the Windows or the MAC OS one. We will publish the Linux tool supporting the SiPy shortly.
-
@daniel said in SiPy firmware update tool now available with ID and PAC for activation:
- Update the SiPy to the latest firmware released (1.5.0.b2)
In the downloads page the firmware for the updater is 1.0.0.b1.
Is this the correct one?
Also I can't upload or paste any files/images because "Error. You do not have enough privileges for this action."

Can't seem to update my SiPy?
I connect the GND to G23 and then plug in the usb.
Then I start up the updater and choose the correct port but I get this message:
Result
The upgrade failed, please check the connections and try these steps again.
This is the log of the upgrading process:

Failure!

@jmarcelino thanks for the positive feedback :-)

Updated my SiPy, registered with Sigfox backend and also tested with Sigfox network emulator. All working fine! Thanks for the many hours poured into this :)
-
@daniel Ah that was my mistake then x) It seems to work fine now with the update mode, but the updater still fails. I think this might have something to do with the windows serial port, so maybe I should wait for the linux updater and try that first before bothering you guys with it :)
Cheers,
Sybren

It should be ok with any usb to serial converter. Please email me a picture of your setup and connections to support-at-pycom.io and I'll have a look right now. I think you are confusing pin 23 (it's actually G23 as marked on the expansion board, which equals to P2 on the module), it's the fourth pin from top to bottom on the left row.
Cheers,
Daniel

@daniel I've tried, but there is no way to get the SiPy in update mode. I'm currently using a friends PC and the updater tool says the connection failed after trying for about 5 seconds.
Is there something else I could be doing wrong?I don't have the expansion board (yet) but have connected the serial cable through a breadboard to my SiPy as it sais in the documentation.
-
@sybrenromer yes that's normal. To enter update mode you have to reset the board after connecting G23 to GND.
-
@iotmaker the updater tool will show you the ID and PAC after flashing the SiPy. Besides that, you can always get it from the board by using the Sigfox class API. Please check the link about the activation procedure which explains all the steps.
-
@daniel No problem, thanks for letting me know :)
Will try it as soon as the new tool is available!By the way is it normal the pycom is still reachable in update mode? I've connected pin 23 to GND but the heartbeat is still there and I can also still connect..
-
where do i find my ID and PAC?
-
@sybrenromer unfortunately there's no solution besides waiting for the unix tool which should be available soon (probably tomorrow end of the day). We can't provide a manual way to update the SiPy's...
Apologies for the delay on this, we focused on the Windows and OS X tool as that is what 99% of the community is using.
Cheers,
Daniek

Nice going!
Unfortunately the linux tool seems to be the old one without support for SiPy :'(
I don't have any windows machine so I can't upgrade the firmware.
Any solutions?
-
Thanks it really was just 5 minutes!
-
@jmarcelino Sorry.... we are upgrading a module on the website. We had to take it down... 5 minutes max :)
-
So I rushed to https://www.pycom.io/support/supportdownloads
and..."We'll be right back"
