VSCode Pymakr not working

I too have struggled with VSCode and Pymakr - auto updates killed Pymakr on three Win10 machines!!!
The solution for me was to load VSCode v1.54.3 https://code.visualstudio.com/updates/v1_54 (can load directly over existing installation - no uninstall needed).
In VSCode Extensions roll back to Pymakr extension to 1.1.12
Turn off (uncheck) Enable Windows Background Updates, Auto Check Updates and Auto updates for VSCode and Extensions:
Manage > Settings > User: Type 'update' in search bar and scroll down.
Update: Enable Widows Background Updates = unchecked
Extensions: Auto Check Updates = unchecked
Extensions: Auto Update = Unchecked

Had to do the same. I am instead using VSCode 1.58.2 and Pymakr 1.1.12, works fine.
Recent Pymakr 1.1.13 does not work with VSCode 1.60.0
