@robert-hh Okay, I will re-configure my circuit and confirm that I'm getting both devices listed in i2c.scan(). Thank you.

@pabloIsrael16 uart.read() is not blocking. If there is no data in the input buffer, it returns None. You can use uart.any() for telling, whther there is data for reading. Or you can set a timeout. Then uart.read() will wait at least for that time.

Sorry, I misunderstood. I can only tell you that the Pygate mounting hole spacing is the same as the Expansionboard 3.0's spacing. We provide that here: https://docs.pycom.io/gitbook/assets/specsheets/Pycom_002_Specsheets_Pygate_v1.pdf in section 12. I will work on getting the Expansionboard spacing out there on its own page!

@VST-Admin The actual example in the in the examples section documentation mentions alarm.callback(None). The recent firmware supports the cancel method. So I recommend updating the firmware.

@pmulvey Solved. I put my encoded bytes into a bytearray and passed this to socket. send. It was this method that was adding bytes to any value >127. So this method seems to be implementing utf-8. It obviously can distinguish between me passing chr(0x9f) and 'b/x9f'.

@Charlython Your *.py files will be compiled on their first call. This needs time and memory. Depending on the size of source and the time you call it, memory me be too fragmented for compiling. You can use meminfo Sometimes it will help if you simply to import the files early. The better way to deal with this, is to precompile your source into *.mpy. Files will be shorter and memory fragmentation will be less. You can start with libraries you don't work on. You can compile the files into the firmware as frozen files. This will use less RAM than the precompiled files. IMHO it's not convenient. If you have really lllllaaaarrrrggggeeee files, you may write yourself a preprocessor to remove comments and to shorten variable and method names. But I don't expect that this will be necessary

@JackBasson I updated the script, taking into account that commands and responses and with CR-LF: # SDI-12 send/receive snippet from machine import UART from time import sleep_ms def setup_uart(num=1, pins=('P3', 'P4'), timeout=120, inverse=False): if inverse: uart = UART(num, 1200, pins=pins, bits=7, timeout_chars=timeout, parity=UART.EVEN, invert=UART.INV_RX|UART.INV_TX) else: uart = UART(num, 1200, pins=pins, bits=7, timeout_chars=timeout, parity=UART.EVEN) return uart def sdi12_tx_rx(uart, tx_msg, send_break=True): if tx_msg is not None: if send_break: uart.sendbreak(14) # Send the break char sleep_ms(5) # Wait a little bit (may not be needed) uart.write(tx_msg + b"\r\n") # Send the message # and wait until it has been sent # ESP has a long delay before sending data uart.wait_tx_done(int(len(tx_msg) * 10000/1200) + 30) # get the response back. It consists # of the message being sent (if any) and # the response. if tx_msg is not None: skip = uart.readline() # copy of the txmessage rx_msg = uart.readline() if rx_msg is not None: rx_msg = rx_msg.strip() # return the response only. return rx_msg CR-LF will be added to the message and removed from the responses.

@quentho It is not the same value between trame hex and trame_bytes For me it's the same value, it's only the printed output that differ Have a Look 0x100c3b258a is same as 0x000000100c3b258a (with all 0) b'\x00\x00\x00\x10\x0c;%\x8a' so until \x10,\x0c no visible difference then we have ";%", let look a the hexadecimal value in ascii code ';'=0x3B and '%'=0x25 , so it exactly the same number. Try import ubinascii print(ubinascii.hexlify(trame_bytes) if you have any doubt
