Any news on the current LTE CAT-M1 status in Portugal? Do I need a special local simcard for this?

@jmarcelino That's clear! It would be helpful if you keep us posted on the updates about the same.

Hi @panik, The LTE modem only support bands 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 8, 12, 13, 18, 19, 20, 28 you cannot set the frequency arbitrarily. None of those are in - or confined to - ISM spectrum. There is a relatively new standard called LTE-U to operate LTE in unlicensed spectrum (usually coexisting with WiFi at 5Ghz), but we don't support it.

@marilenam Ok, but please note there is a lot more to NB-IoT than just the frequency.

@eric-waai Yes, I know this promise. I already registered, but it' s not there yet. Sequans may not have provided the firmware yet, and Pycom did not start with the device replacement yet.

I guess we will need to go for SigFox until everything is settled. I forgot to mention one question: I saw that AT commands are coming in near time on other posts. I didn't see a method in the documentation about how to connect to an APN of the SIM card. So I don't know if this method comes with those AT commands or if there is another solution to it. Thanks for your response so far =)

It's 2019 now. In fact we're more than half way through 2019, and still it looks like the FiPy is useless for cellular in the UK. In fact even though Things Mobile and Hologram offer 'IoT LTE sims', neither support NB-Iot or CAT-M1 LTE. So basically the FiPy can't be used some 18 months later. I've just ordered a SIM7600E-H module from AliExpress instead :(

@jmarcelino sounds good! I'll follow-up in Q3-Q4, especially when the first APIs are exposed by the different MNOs to reach the SCEF

Hi @smeedy, We should have NB-IoT news around middle of January (next month).

@jonaswg I never did that with a newer xxPy device. But I used Wipy 1 in that mode with a Debian Linux computer. If you terminal emulator has flow control, switch that off. The other settings are 115200 baud, 8 bit, no parity. If you push reset at the FiPy, you shoudl at least see some boot messages.

@mcmxii Depends what you mean by "at the same time" but I'm pretty sure you can queue one message for transmission via LTE and the same via LoRa. (of course LoRa will be the limitation due to limited packet size and airtime regulatory restrictions) I'm also pretty sure - unless the team pulled off some miracle - that you cannot queue a message over LoRa and Sigfox at the same time because those two share the same chip.
