@agotsis That will work if things is not time-critical yes! But if your wakeup is depending on a interrupt from a sensor, and you want to be able to start sampling from the sensor(s) as soon as you get an interrupt, deepsleep is simply not feasible. You will not get data before it is finished re-booting after deepsleep, losing a lot of data in the meantime.

@vs Don't know the details about Chirpstack nor exactly what setup you have, but does Chirpstack show you the downlinks being sent? Does it state in what RX windows they are sent (RX1 or RX2), at which frequency, data rate, and actual time? In general, you should consider most LoRaWAN traffic to be best effort. It gets there if it gets there whenever it gets there. LoRaWAN is very suitable for non-time-sensitive applications such as metering or reporting. Not so much command-and-control. Nevertheless, downlinks exist in confirmed flavours exactly like uplinks. Though as downlinks are only sent in response to an uplink, it may take a while for retransmissions to be sent.

@jubenjum The tutorial you are using is for the "main" line of MicroPython. Pycom has a separate branch which differs in quite a few places. See the docs here for the Pycom version. The mode is passed as a periodic argument in that one.

Hi, I'm having the same problem right now. From what I've figured out so far, there's an interrupt on P#9 which can be configured through the py.setup_int_pin_wake_up(False) method. I haven't gotten it working so far, though. I have also created another topic asking a similar thing. Alternatively, you can sleep through the machine.deepsleep method and configure any GPIO as wakeup pin for that. YMMV though, as I am experiencing extremely high sleep current with the machine deepsleep.

@morrison Never looked into the details, but using NTP sync with decent connections between the LoPy4 and the network should yield decent timekeeping. Make sure you have the exact time of arrival of a frame (including fractional seconds) in the data sent to the network, and if you know the exact position of your gateways you should be able to compute the location of the node. Of course as @aliubi stated the accuracy may be limited, not sure if that would useful to you with that kind of resolution.

There are many github deposit for urequest. I don't know if you noticed that some librarie are for urequest and some for urequests The last librairie I founded at this time for urequests was in the micro-python's deposit you can found here : https://github.com/micropython/micropython-lib You can use it as simply as : import urequests req = urequests.get("http://<your.personal.url>/", {"param1":"value1", "param2":"value2"} )

The RTC of the ESP32 does not work if not powered. Even in deepsleep mode the firmware is such that the RTC of the ESP32 forgets its value. In that case you will need an external RTC which you read when the device restarts.

@kjm wlan.antenna() return the value of in internal variable with the name antenna_type_selected, which is not change when you just set the value of the GPIO pin from your Python script.

@kjm That looks like been made for micropython on Linux. It will fail at line 2, because ffilib.py (and libsqlite3.py as well) does not exist on pycom boards.

@juan_peroza JSON is not a protocol, it’s just a data representation. You can send whatever you want, but JSON is not very space efficient, and is usually not the best choice for data sent over a (very) low bandwidth link such as LoRa, SigFox, NB-IoT, or BLE. It’s usually better to use an optimised binary format in those cases.
