Hi, From what I understand, the Fipy's LTE modem no longer responds to you in the Pysense V2 (That is what cannot determine modem state! means). You mention using different fipys and pysenses etc. Do you have multiple Fipys experiencing this issue? Only on Pysense 2.0 X, or also on Pysense 1? Are you using additional accessories on the Pysense through the expansionpins? Can you try the following for me on the Fipy that does not work. Completely wipe the Fipy flash (in the pycom firmware update tool, advanced section clear NVS, CONFIG and erase flash check marks) and update to the latest firmware 1.20.2.r1. Let me know Gijs

@kjm For people using Atom the this is a possible approach. But not all people do, and this approach makes quite a few assumptions, like that the image fits into flash. And there a lot if threads about problems with Atom and syncing. Your approach is an alternative, but people will too have issues with it.

@steve-williams , I did some power mesurements here on the same setup I mentioned in my previous post to give you a clear picture about the current consumption while the modem is trying to attach so as to help you identifying the problem , in first trial I intentionally powered off the CAT-M1 network in office and run a script on GPY trying to attach you can see that the modem current consumption increases after sending attach request and keep trying to attach periodically, you can see that the Avg.current consumption when trying to attach can reach 285mA (150mA more than normal). The following image is when CAT-M1 network is back online and attaching is successful :

So I think I found my problem As I said in another post the problem wasn't in the software, but hardware. I don't use a expansion board, I use a ttl converter like this one https://www.ebay.com/itm/5V-3-3V-FTDI-FT232RL-USB-to-TTL-Serial-Converter-Adapter-Module-Arduino-Mini-Hot/182736917146 With this converter 3.3V is not enough to power on stably the board, so, I used it in 5V mode, but it seem that 5v for serial communication is ok for the python REPL, but have problem when flashing the modem or use the LTE modem. Finally, I changed my design by using another 5v power source, and use the ttl converter un 3v3 mode with common ground. And then it just works fine ;)

@pmst It's not yet possible through the firmware updater tool but if you have Python3 + PySerial on your PC you can update through serial. See https://github.com/pycom/pycom-libraries/tree/master/lib/sqnsupgrade for more details. Let me know if you have any issues.

Hey @Sebastien, Hope you are doing well. Just curious, were you able to use FiPy/ GPy as a modem? If so, how? If we connect UART of Pi with LTE RX, TX. does it act like a network interface like lte0? eth0? Also, if we are able to do this, by default the way of communication (accessing internet) would be via LTE? What if, we want to use SigFox or Wifi? Also, is there a detail blog post regarding the same? Cheers, Vijay
