@theshade Pycom INC is closed. And whoever purchased the assets did not buy the debts or responsibilities. Personally I'm upset that not even the technical documentation of their boards was published as a small feedback for the community.

Hi Herbert, I think it will be hard to find new old stock, maybe you can find someone on the forum. Meanwhile maybe Walter can help you, it is fully compatible with the GPy both on a software and hardware standpoint of view. https://www.crowdsupply.com/dptechnics/walter Kind regards, Daan

I think it is better for you to learn Python by watching the relevant tutorial videos.

@Mark-Stewart Are you still using the Pycom firmware? Have you tried Nebra’s? https://support.nebra.com/support/solutions/articles/24000083168-getting-started-with-pycom

@Dale-Fletcher Which firmware version do you use? The time window for receiving a OTAA join confirmation is small (~10 ms after 5 or 6 seconds) and the PyCom (ESP32) device have not You could try to join with a lower data rate or init Lora with a higher spreading factor. That will increase the time window for receive. Edit: Do you see the join request in the TTN gateway console?

@SanOls When you look at the file, do you see any lines with coordinates with values null or 0 or something similar? I think you need to add more logs, including: Timestamps, ideally before and after send, coordinates and recv Logs of the return value of coordinates in all cases Logs of any retries (which I believe would happen if recv returned something other than 'bob' What is the duration of each good/bad phase? Looks like about 8 to 10 points, which should be 15-20 seconds each, is that the case? What is the range of the RSSI values?

@firemonkey Did you have success with this? I'm having issues where the pygate drops off the network (usually when the router loses power) and it never reconnects.

Thanks for the answer. I already tried using callbacks, but couldn't quite figure it out. Luckily, i managed to find some piece of code on the web which seems to check if there are any data in the socket. # Check if the socket is busy r, w, x = select.select([tx], [tx], [], 0) if r or w: tx.send(package) Where tx is the name of the socket.

@keik I'm a bit puzzled... In raw LoRa you define all the modulation parameters, which includes the raw data rate, and the rest can be computed from there. What is it exactly you're trying to find out? What is the maximum data rate you can use and still receive data at the other end for a specific pair of devices (taking into account distance, obstacles, etc.)? Note that this can vary over time (e.g. weather, people moving around, foliage on trees...), and depends on what is an acceptable packet loss. What is the maximum actual data rate for a given modulation, taking into account overhead, duty cycles, etc? Something else? What is the LoRaWAN feature you mention that does this exactly?

Hello everyone, if you are seeing this comment !... So coming back to the problem I had. Since I was beginner so I tried almost all the tools and tricks to connect the pycom lopy4 using pymakr and vscode. But the issue was resolved by updating the firmware of the module to the latest one. Hence if you are having such issues don't forget to update the firmware. thanks to Robert, btw!

Hey, adding some code that should get you there and that includes a lot of useful debugging stuff. You'll need to change the apn / band . import time import socket from network import LTE # Connect to Mobile def connect_mobile(settings): lte = LTE() connected = False display.set_mode("Trying: LTE") try: lte.init() print("LTE init success") except: print("LTE init failed") print(lte.ue_coverage()) # Check network coverage (True, is yes) print(lte.send_at_cmd('AT!="fsm"')) print(lte.send_at_cmd("AT")) print(lte.send_at_cmd("ATI1")) print(lte.send_at_cmd("AT+CSMINS?")) print(lte.send_at_cmd("AT+CFUN?")) print(lte.send_at_cmd('ATI+CIMI')) # Request IMSI print(lte.send_at_cmd('ATI+SQNCTM=?')) print("Add band, will be much faster") #lte.attach(band=None, apn="iot.1nce.net") #band : to scan for networks. If no band (or None) is specified, all bands will be scanned. The possible values for the band are: 3, 4, 5, 8, 12, 13, 20 and 28. lte.attach(band=20, apn="iot.1nce.net") # works print("attaching..",end='') while not lte.isattached(): time.sleep(0.25) print('.',end='') print(lte.send_at_cmd('AT!="fsm"')) # get the System FSM print("attached!") # once attached print(lte.send_at_cmd("AT+CSQ")) # Signal quality, returns <ssid> (), <ber> # SSID (received signal strength indication) ## 0: -113dBm or less ## 1: -111 dBm ## 2..30: -109..-53 dBm ## 31: -51 dBm or greater (best) ## 99: not known or not detectable # ber : channel bit error rate in percent ## 0..7: see table ## 9: not known or not detectable lte.connect() print("connecting [##",end='') while not lte.isconnected(): time.sleep(0.25) print('#',end='') print(lte.send_at_cmd('AT!="fsm"')) print("] connected!") print(socket.getaddrinfo('pybytes.pycom.io', 80)) lte.deinit() # Disables LTE modem completely return connected

@Daniel-Bell Hi, everything what is working for you is good ;-) But all depend on what do you name a project? Are you talking about Pymakr project? Normally you should have main.py and to simpler maitaining code, other files supporting different tasks. But this is not required. If the project is small, you can all include in the one big main.py file. So you decide. As python support classes i use self classes in separate files to take care about one separate task.
