  @jmarcelino Am getting the error at gateway side. Error message with line number is as below Traceback (most recent call last): File "<stdin>", line 47, in <module> TypeError: unsupported types for add: 'str', 'bytes' Gateway code is attached also node side code is attached. And also please let me know whether i have used correct method to send data to server in the gateway code, using below lines of code response = urequests.get("http://localhost/ksn/server.php?data=" + msg) response.close() 1_1523684617338_node.py 0_1523684617338_gateway.py

  @nazz Here click me (scrol down a little) you can see the pictures of testing lab where you can see the pins for these pads. This presents GPy which have different pads placement, but gives you an idea.

  @Nazz Will need to do the opposite of what you've done here, send from the RPi, recvieve on the FiPy (see here: https://docs.pycom.io/chapter/firmwareapi/pycom/machine/UART.html#uartreadnbytes), and then do what ever sending you require.

  @apiwize after the join worked, the TTN server will send a list of frequencies to use. The node will uses these in a random matter. Unfortunately the nanogateway can listen only to one of these three frequencies, meaning that you will miss 2 of 3 messages. That is not related to timing. The best option then is to switch to abp mode, copying over from the TTN console the values for device address, network session key and app session key.   @timh @IOAg I am not sure how you guys have been going with the LTE stuff but after 2 days of testing I am still finding it very flaky. I tried your earfcn settings and find that the unit finds a cell tower much quicker and consistently but still would not attach. I then updated to the latest FiPy firmware and then updated the Sequans firmware as per (https://forum.pycom.io/topic/2902/cellular-radio-firmware-release-sqn3330-for-both-cat-m1-and-nb-iot). I then found I started to be able to attach and connect. However, saying that, it is still inconsistent. I have had my device in the same spot for two days and I will get periods where it will connect almost every time, then hours where I get nothing. I also still have the modem crash when it is connected after a short period of time and then have times when it won't recover (lte.reset fails and machine.reset does not work either) with the only solution to perform a complete power cycle of the FiPy unit. Also it does not always attach/connect first go and I need to reset/attempt to attach in a cycle a few times. So while, when it does work, it connects more often there is no way I can consider my FiPy/The LTE modem as a reliable device. Pretty much at my wits end with this and looking at moving to a new platform. Would be interested to see if your results are similar or you feel you have a complete stable solution you would use as a commercial product?

  @timh (and anyone else trying to reset) I'm using nbiot have managed to attach and connect to the vodafone network but seem to be able to get the module in a state that it won't accept any at commands frequently - just returns empty strings to all attempts to talk to it or reset it?   Thank you @jcaron, for the data consumption topic, you're right, I will check the requirements again. For the gateway, can you recommend us some low price, fair range LoraWAN gateways? Doesn't matter if they aren't battery powered. We can start from there.

  @combaindeft B) is clear, since the 3.3 regulator is on the FiPy device. Without that, no power at the 3.3V pin. Due to A) with the rock solid supply through a battery it is hard to accept, that it's a firmware issue, at least of the FiPy. Still, the PyTrack board can be the culprit. Did you try to run the FiPy without the PyTrack board, like on a breadboard with a separate USB/serial interface? Shorting 3.3 and GND should be avoided. P.S.: It's a pity that Pycom does not publish schematics.

  @seb Thank you for your reply, YES true that compute module does not have wifi or BT , so only we go with UART connection, and i have connected the fipy and RPI compute module via UART. But how shall ssh to RPI compute module and access the RPI file structure. After the serial connection now i want to send data within the RPI compute module to server. How to do this?? Thank You

  thank you for the suggestions. I am running the FiPy on a breadboard, I uploaded the firmware using a ttl serial adapter (RX/TX, PWR 3.3v) I removed the RX/TX connections (as they are 3.3v) and bumped it to 5v for pwr and everything is working now. it may have been the power source insufficient to run both WIFI and LTE radios simultaneously or it could have been the RX/TX connections to the ttl serial. either way it is working now, thank you for the help.

  @misterlisty This pin is directly connected to the WiFi/BT RF antenna switch so any signal you input or output may cause it to switch between the internal and external antenna setting. This effectively means you can’t use it if you use WiFi or BT.
