  @livius @jcaron <SOLVED> I managed to get this to work thanks to your help, used a sparkfun MAX3232 to step down the RS232 to UART and ASCII strings appear as expected and was able to upload them to a web server.

  Hi, It looks like you are using PlatformIO, this is not something we currently support. Pymakr is a standalone plugin for atom and does not interact with platformIO in any way. To create a pymakr project, just create a empty folder on your computer and open it with atom. You can then add project settings via the settings menu in the Pymakr panel and create a main.py file.

  The library does say it will work with Micropython so reusing some of the code regarding OBDII protocol should be less difficult. However the library is designed for the ELM327 device. Unless you use the device, there will be effort into making the code work with your specific communication method, for example directly using the Pycom CAN interface.

  @daniel Would the LoRa chip on a LoPy stay active during light sleep? If so, the same kind of trick could help save quite a bit of energy when sending a packet: the time until RX2 usually does not need the CPU to be doing anything, so one could easily save 2 seconds of CPU awake time. When using the slowest data rates, the CPU could also be sleeping during the TX phase itself, I suppose. Even if light sleep is not possible, what about machine.idle? I understand it’s not currently working as intended, but if there’s a way to fix that it could probably help as well.

  Hi, The wake from deepsleep is done based on pin level rather than the rising or falling edge of the pins. One way around this is to add a small circuit between the source of the signal and the pin that creates a small pulse instead of keeping the pin high.   @panos29 Both boot.py and main.py are executed at power on and reset, and give you the starting point. So you can put your code into main.py, or in a different file, which you import from main.py (which is what I prefer), or, or, or....

  It looks like it needs a double scan to find the rom. After inserting ow1 = OneWire(Pin('P4')) print('found devices:', ow1.scan()) Even if the print is an empty array ('found devices:[]') then the temperature reading is working with appropriate rom... Anyone can get why? Maxi

  @robert-hh Thanks for that insight. My issue was that (unlike my example) the callback would trigger a separate function that included an additional but non-related alarm call back that would get 'stalled' from the original callback. Having worked out that as long as an alarm is created from the 'main' thread it will not be blocked by work from the caller I have adjusted my program to use a mix of sensor alarms and secondary "worker" threads which are triggered by not run from the alarm callback. Not sure if it is the best way but seems to allow things to run smoothly without blocking.

  Thanks, sorry I did not see the "compose" with question mark inside the box. The documentation is pretty clear. I am a member of so many forums and they all have different tools. Wonder if there will be a shake up at some stage to use something like the wiki toolset which does most thinks.
