@johand As long as you have pysical access to the module, you can extract the image. Then you would have to de-compile the code, which is some effort. If you think that this is a sufficient barrier, then you can go that way. And, as @livius said, this topic has been diesucssed in this forum as well as in forum.microtpython.org. So you are not alone, and I expect some methods to come up.

@april Sorry to say but time difference of arrival between two radio transceivers is actually a very difficult problem, you’ll need more hardware than the LoPy provides and/or VERY clever algorithms.

@jmarcelino said in Modules with new Semtech SX126x chips?:: @bmarkus Looks interesting but there's not even a data sheet yet so I think it's really too soon to talk about a "plan". For example the LoPy4 derives a lot of value from the flexibility of the SX1276, does the "packet engine" on the SX126x provide the same? We'll see Did you talk to Semtech and ask for info, datasheet, sample, etc. ?

@roy-boy did you tried avaiable samples? https://docs.pycom.io/chapter/tutorials/lopy/lora-mac-nano-gateway.html https://docs.pycom.io/chapter/tutorials/lopy/lopy-lopy.html analog sensor can by read by ADC https://docs.pycom.io/chapter/tutorials/all/adc.html https://docs.pycom.io/chapter/firmwareapi/pycom/machine/ADC.html especially look at attenuation to read in some range

@duhmojo said in I might get crapped on for this, but where is basic assembly information?: pycom.io/gettingstarted Hi, Firstly I would like to thank you for your feedback. We always welcome constructive feedback and we will working on overhauling the getting started guide very soon soon. We certainly need to provide better information regarding the antennas in the getting started guide. The URL the package points to is just a heading chapter, you can then use the arrows to navigate to the next page. I admit this isn't very intuitive, this will be improved in our overhaul. To directly answer your queries: The long black antenna is for LoRa/Sigfox, the flat antenna with four fingers is for the cellular radio and you do not require to use a wifi antenna because the module has a on-board chip antenna (the beige coloured block on the bottom of the module). The pinout which can be found here: https://docs.pycom.io/chapter/datasheets/development/fipy.html details which connector is which. A guide on how to connect the module to a Expansion board, pysense or pytrack can be found here: https://docs.pycom.io/chapter/gettingstarted/unboxing.html#first There are two tabs which take you through the process step by step including a link to a guide on how to update the pytrack/pysense firmware. (this is not the same as the modules firmware).

@smbunn The hardware supports both however, at least for now, there are two separate firmware images. Once you pick one region in the updater it'll use it from then on unless you request it to be deleted from Pycom's database. If you're switching between regions frequently it's recommended you compile your own firmware image from source https://github.com/pycom/pycom-micropython-sigfox . Then you can select which firmware to build with a simple option LORA_BAND=USE_BAND_868 or LORA_BAND=USE_BAND_915

@fred I have had a similar experience to this post from 6 months ago. What's changed since then? https://forum.pycom.io/topic/1452/first-steps-with-lopy-pysense-and-feedback Will i achieve anything by complaining, probably not and will not benefit this community . However when i purchase a product(s) that is released to joe public you do expect many of the bugs to be ironed out with a smoother onborading process. I'll be first to say i don't no everything and most definitely not an expert in python but hey that's why we look at products such pycom to develop and learn. So what have i done so far; I've updated the lopy firmware with the tool provided. Orientating the lopy was not straight forward and this goes for the pysens/pytrack. If i did not have an expansion board how do i update the firmware using a pysense? *I did the usual pycom hello world of LED lights. GREAT!! VS Code is working and syncing as it expected. *Next i connected to WiFi and used SSH to log in.GREAT!! I thought this was easy. *I explored sending events to AWS and Azure. After some tinkering a made it happen posting sample json data. GREAT!! Now lets connect the pysense and collect some real data! *I have struggled installing drivers and updating pysense firmware or should i say understating if it has completed correctly. [image: 1513372576892-5ab52586-b40c-45fa-a5a7-034c2f165dca-image.png] I can only assume i have at this point. I then had to roll back the Windows driver so i could communicate on COM4? *I go to github to download pysense libs and sample program. https://github.com/pycom/pycom-libraries/tree/master/pysense I have a couple of errors [image: 1513373609061-b787c40e-1066-4869-b4a2-61a3795ec5c6-image.png] [image: 1513373640677-5456002e-1cd7-4fa6-b0a8-edc0c01f15a6-image-resized.png] So i see pycoproc is required in the ERROR, so lets get that and it to my pycom lib [image: 1513374008265-c0d0b338-af98-4d7b-accf-1790ed1a6ac2-image-resized.png] But hold on team.... pycoproc is within its folder. It actually need to be in the root of lib right? GREAT!!! We are now running with pysense [image: 1513374297924-a78f889e-3c27-4462-a295-d534f005edb1-image.png] [image: 1513374341557-3bd6e987-6dd9-4737-88fd-83235172fcf3-image.png] Following the Pycom tutorials is there any reference to pycoproc? I'm all about discovering and going out to find the information - what a great way to learn. I feel it would benefit all levels knowledge if you had projects packaged up ready to go that we can use as a benchmark or fall back if something stops working we can then trouble shoot hardware easily. A library of short 3min videos would be a great for people getting started. i'm a member of the Dev xpress framework and there documentation is the best i have ever experienced. Check you there getting started videos. Simple but very effective. https://www.devexpress.com/Support/Start/ i'm with the community and agree this hardware is pretty cool but i want to get up and running in a couple of mins running sample code from there we can go and invent!! Thanks Lewis

@jonaswg I never did that with a newer xxPy device. But I used Wipy 1 in that mode with a Debian Linux computer. If you terminal emulator has flow control, switch that off. The other settings are 115200 baud, 8 bit, no parity. If you push reset at the FiPy, you shoudl at least see some boot messages.

@xykon i do not worked with nodebb, but if you can change class for forum content then for twitter simply add css like this div.col-lg-3.col-sm-12 { float: right; margin-right: -300px; } this is only one element with this class combination on the page, then style will apply only to this twitter sidebar i do not know nodebb but maybe it can generate automatically id for all elements? Then life will be much easier ;-)

Their is no standard protocol except the simple QOS, topics etc. This is why its so fast and useful. I suggest to build your own protocol. Create packet definition like [CMD][DATA][CRC] This would be s imple packet you could enhance and add encryption if required.

Hi, the new WiPy available for purchase on the webshop does have the increased memory: 4MB RAM, 8MB flash and fully working DeepSleep. Best wishes Fred
