Hi @Don-iot , are you able to confirm whether you had the message "Failed to read project status, uploading all files" when the problem existed? Or did you merely see that all files got uploaded, but this specific message was not printed? Maybe you don't know, after all the problem you faced was resolved, but if you happen to know, I'd be curious.

  I had exactly same error message, atom 1.56.0 and pymakr 2.1.12. It took a while how to install older version. Maybe help for someone: go to https://github.com/atom/atom/releases/tag/v1.50.0 and download from "assets" part file AtomSetup-x64.exe which installs atom. v. 1.50.0; works fine with current pymakr 2.1.12 And remove "automatic update" from Atom!

  This is a new issue (please do not reopen old threads), only on VSCode, we are working on a solution. There's another thread here on the recent issues: https://forum.pycom.io/topic/6809/pymakr-1-1-8-vs-code-failed-to-connect/ In the meantime, you can use Atom + Pymakr.   I know this issue sometimes occurs, but have never seen it happen every time. Im not sure about support for non-pycom development boards though.

  Hi, Step 3 refers to the 'open' entry in the file menu. You should also be able to open directories with that. Then, you can create an empty file inside the directory and call it main.py It is probably less complicated than it sounds, I will edit the instructions to make it more clear!

  This is a classic. You have to change your import from from umqtt import MQTTClient to from lib.umqtt import MQTTClient Thit will solve the problem. However, I would recommend creating an empty file called __init__.py inside your lib folder. This way you just need to make a reference to the package where your libraries are, like from directory.filename import Myclass This might be helpful if you need to import something from a directory one level up.

  @kjm did you try reinstalling atom? Otherwise it's either a matter of waiting for it to 'fix itself' or login an issue with support. Visual Studio Code is not a million miles from Atom. Just make sure it's VS Code and not the very large, full, visual studio package that you're installing. regarding stability; Compatibility with Windows updates could be expected to be more stable, since it's Windows' own software (but that's only speculation). I think you'll find pymakr breaks as often in VS Code, however.. I find myself swapping between the two quiet a bit, when things break.

  I'm also seeing this issue with updated Visual Studio Code and Pymakr 1.1.6. Uploading the current file always fails, but I was able to upload a complete folder. Visual Studio Version: Version: 1.46.0 (user setup) Commit: a5d1cc28bb5da32ec67e86cc50f84c67cc690321 Date: 2020-06-10T09:03:20.462Z Electron: 7.3.1 Chrome: 78.0.3904.130 Node.js: 12.8.1 V8: 7.8.279.23-electron.0 OS: Windows_NT x64 10.0.18363 The error is only visible for a split second, but with a screen recording, I was able to get this:

  @aen By now I have written my own tests without using a library. I had some trouble to fit my stuff into a LoPy 1. I still have to write me some scripts for precompiling and splitting the full source into testable projects. I am using Atom which seems not support such fancy things out of the box. I found this library the other day, which seems to run with the pycom implementation: micropython-lib on github

  @railmonitor When I rail against these unwanted changes my offspring chide me, "Dad, stop confusing stupidity for malevolence". I just wish organisations that insist on fixing stuff that isn't broke would spend a day or two using their new creation before foisting it upon unsuspecting users!
